When do we start punishing fraudsters?
The developers website clearly states that the app, as listed - its free version - can clear trouble codes (turn off check engine, MIL codes)
Further, the developers website indicates what upgraded functions the in-app purchase, the pro version, would provide. The six bullet point list does not include clearing codes. It only refers to real-time parameter recording, reading and displaying of multiple simultaneous parameters, recording of parameters in background mode, viewing and sending recorded parameter traces, GPS support and the ability to upload recorded data to a server.
Clearly, Apple needs to remove this app from the app store until the developer becomes truthful with its users because users are forced to purchase hardware which may or may not be returnable as a result of this fraud.
